Hours / Mins as duration unit
Your competitors allow this. Your zoomable interface would seem to be perfect for presenting tasks which take less than 1 day.
A complicated topic, would you please help to check following two articles:
- The best practices about task duration

- Why choose project schedule app

=====
We have just released another app which is for Roadmap planning. I’d like to suggest to use the Roadmap app for your short-term activity schedule!
Using Roadmap app, we have created an example for the agenda of WWDC (Apple Worldwide Developers Conference) 2018, please check out the details at https://roadmapgo.com/documents/examples.
Download the Roadmap apps at https://roadmapgo.com/getapps
(Roadmap app is very flexible, although it’s designed for the product/business roadmap planning, you will find it’s very flexible for other types of plan)
Please pay attention:
- Roadmap is NOT another version of QuickPlan. Check out the details at https://roadmapgo.com/info/to-quickplan-users
- We can use Roadmap app for other purpose like the agenda planning, but Roadmap is designed for roadmap planning which is not for neither project schedule or todo

For the reason why QuickPlan does not support the hour duration, please check out the details at https://quickplan.app/documents/best-practices/task-duration

I thought I would love this app... I have been a PM for 20+ years and I purchased your PM bundle after playing with the demo for less than 30 min thinking I could finally ditch MS Project. I couldn't wait! I should have played longer before purchasing. The app actually import MS project file correctly when durations are in hours and, frankly, your argument on the topic of excluding fractional day durations is just flawed… assuming your goal is to have an effective planning tool. I came to the forum hoping I was wrong, but clearly you are not interested in listening to your customers as you have declined this feature for 6+ years it appears. Like I said, I thought I loved your app, and in many ways it is excellent (I love the sub-projects), but where do I get my money back! If I can't plan activities in hrs & days, it is useless for 100% of my work related projects that span years.

I have already read the reason why shouldn't devide the to the short duration from your website. And I understand your concern. However, can you imagine that we have a one year project and there are a lot tasks inside. Some of tasks are very important and detail we need devide to every hour, for example: conference, transportation, performance, etc.. Why we must use another app to control the same thing. I appreciate the app iAgenda. I would like to recommend that you allow to use the 5-minute timebase just inside the sub project, and this can be a option in setting. At that time the user can dismissed this function if they don't want to use. Thanks alot!

I was super surprised to - major flaw of this app. It’s much better than iAgenda (and it’s awful green UI) - Please add! It’s much needed in today’s by-the-hour world. Your other work-around-solutions don’t work very well. Please add! Thanks.

Our preferred and our practices are using Kanban (or other similar tools, such as the famous app Trello) to manage the short-term activities. And using the approach, the project schedule is the input of the Kanban. Also there are many todo apps which supports online collaboration, we can also using the todo apps to manage short-term activities with the team, and collect the task execution status feedback, then the PM take actions to update the project schedule.
it's possible that add a simple task list feature to QuickPlan. As there are many other apps ready for short-term activities management, and QuickPlan is focusing on project schedule.

I often have to micromanage small projects (like a customer shutdown over a day or so) with hourly resolution. The whole project duration could be a single day with many related activities and dependencies within the day. For this I really need a finer time resolution within the project planner.

Estimate? I think you mean "WORK" or "COST", there is no problem to input task work as 1 hour.
(to let the member be flexible, for a task with one hour of work, we can define the task as "to be completed in one DAY with one HOUR efforts"

I have read your argument for not putting in fractions of a day but it doesn't hold in my case. I use QuickPlan to create estimates and I need to include the task name and it needs to be less than a full day. Very Important!!

@ Admin
I followed your suggestions in the way to manage projects and it may work out for me.
Thanks for the suggestions and for your note about the direction QuickPlan is going.
I would like to re-emphasize that you have a great product.

Just downloaded the Trial version for Mac.
Great app, intuitive, works very smooth and fun to work with.
I would also need to be able to track activities by hours and minutes.
I read to the article about task duration and provided me some insight on other solution to track activities with hours and minutes.
If the Quick Plan team is not planning to add these feature in a near future, let me know and I will have to consider other options, but would be sad since your product is very well done.

Hi all,
For the design consideration, please check out the article "about task duration" in the best practices at http://www.quickplan.xyz/documents/best-practices/
And:
- Cost be impacted by resource, resource allocation rate, and duration. One task with 1 hour duration which be assigned to a resource == One task with 1 day duration which be assigned to a resource by 1/8 efforts- Thinking if we are working for a schedule, or just a document
- Really are working for project schedule, or agenda, or todo
- For agenda, please download iAgenda app which is free not
Best,

I am in the same situation. In fact, due to cost categories for my projects, i need to plan at least hourly.
